World Cup Dreams

Hello

My name is Willem Ellis and I have a dream of going to South Africa to see the world cup in 2010. Here’s my story and why I would love your donations.

I was born in South Africa on 31 August, 1989. I lived in Pretoria on a plot until the age of 8 when we moved to America in 1997. I love America, but I miss South Africa. I went back for the first time in 1999 to celebrate Christmas with the family. In 2002 I went back for a second time to get my Passport renewed and as part of a Green Card application process. I haven’t been back since, and it’s going on seven years now. I really miss it and would love to go back, especially for the WORLD CUP!

This is an extremely proud moment in my country’s history. I will spare you the details, but basically Bafana Bafana was banned from FIFA from 1966 to 1990 because of the Apartheid system. For us to come from that all the way to hosting the World Cup is a sensational achievement. I am extremely excited and will make sure I’m able to make it there.

I ask you to donate just a few cents using tipjoy by clicking the button at the top of this blog. For those that have tipjoy accounts, this won’t be hard, but you may feel like I haven’t really pleaded my case to you as to why I should receive your donation. For those of you that don’t have an account, you may feel like you don’t want to go through the laborious process of creating a tipjoy account just to donate a few cents to some nobody, after all, what difference will 10 cents make? Well in an attempt to keep it 100, probably not that much BUT, with enough donations it will bring my dream closer to becoming a reality.

I am not some loafer that’s just looking for a handout. I will truly be working my butt off this Summer and through my third year in college to make this dream a reality. Whether I get a lot of donations or not, this will happen. I am simply asking for a donation to bring me that little bit closer to achieving my goal.

Finally, when I do in fact go to South Africa to experience the World Cup, I will create a detailed blog of my visit and update it every day. I appreciate you reading this and please feel free to drop me a comment down below!

Thank you,

Willem Ellis
